The Division of Institutional Advancement along with the Office of Alumni Relations is hosting its 2nd Annual Alma Matters Awards Luncheon on Thursday, November 14th at 11:30 a.m. at the Hostos Café in the C-building.

This event will celebrate Hostos alumni employees and those who recently retired.  To vote for your favorite Hostos alumni employee(s), please take a few minutes to complete an online nomination form. Please read the information below before proceeding: 

Nomination Form Guidelines 

Please keep in mind the following when submitting your nomination:

  • The nominee must be a graduate from Hostos Community College. The graduate may be presently employed at Hostos or recently retired. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
  • Nominations must be received by the Office of Alumni Relations by Friday, October 11th, 2019.
  • All nominations must be received through the link listed below, or via the Alma Matters Nomination Form. The nominator must complete the nomination form entirely.
  • A nominator may nominate more than one alumnus, or may nominate the same person for more than one award; however, these nominations must be submitted independently. Please note that the same person cannot be nominated more than once in the same award category. The nominator does not need to be a graduate of Hostos.
  • Alumni cannot receive multiple awards.

Award Category Descriptions

Visionary Award

The Visionary Award recognizes the individual whose strategic perspective and methods allows them to deliver effective outcomes with long-term impact. A forward-thinker, collaborator, and creator in their own right, the honoree is skilled at foreseeing issues and implementing tactics that offer a lasting result.

Community Impact Award

The Community Impact Award acknowledges one whose ideals, skills, and knowledge are targeted towards affecting positive change within a particular community or population. The honoree endeavors to identify a community concern and actively relishes in proposing solutions or providing the resources that serve to strengthen a community.

Trailblazer Award

The Trailblazer Award is bestowed to one who embodies originality, consistently pursues innovation, and strives for excellence in their industry. A change agent determined to advance, the honoree sets out to gain knowledge and make new discoveries that ultimately, benefit many. Their insightfulness and persistence opens new paths for others.

Honorable Mention Award

The Honorable Mention Award salutes a graduate’s long trajectory of employment service at Hostos Community College. This recipient demonstrates dedication and commitment to helping our institution transform the lives of students.
